Resources that we have used to help us plan our trip
Scott's Cheap Flights
For only $15 for a 3-month subscription, this site sends alerts for all of the cheapest international flights. This is how we inadvertently discovered Google Flights and subsequently purchased our trip flights.
We plan to use this site many many many more times in the future!
Google Flights
If you are willing to be flexible on travel plans, then you will absolutely find THE cheapest flights!
Couchsurfing
A great lodging option on a shoestring budget - but better yet this is a way to meet kind people and get local advice for where to travel and what to do in the area.
WWOOF New Zealand
We've had great correspondence with the director of WWOOF NZ - haven't had the pleasure to use this service yet, but look forward to connecting with local farms and individuals on our trip.
World Nomads
This is the company we are using for our travel health insurance. They seem to cover exactly what we want them to cover for a decent price - and then they also cover a bunch of other stuff that I never thought I would need for no additional price.
Bill used this site ALL. THE. TIME. Matt is a great resource for traveling ideas.
Booking.com - had been great for finding cheap accommodations in a days notice.
Maps Me - offline downloadable maps (recommended to us by British and Australian fellow travelers) to help you get around. Very helpful!
