About Us

Hey There!

We’re Taryn and Bill.  We’ve been living in Salt Lake City for the last 4-5 years or so and have totally loved the mountain access and the adventures that Utah has afforded us.  We got married in June 2016 and thought that right about now, before we settle down and have small humans, would be a good time to leave our perfectly good jobs to fly across the world and just figure out what adventure awaits.  We will plan to hike and tramp in New Zealand, surf on couches and live in vans, meet people and locals through the WWOOFing organization an maybe even crew on some sail boats.  We may end up settling in a place for a few months and possibly working – or possibly not.  We have a general idea about where we might like to go, but overall we are interested in having no plan at all.  Our favorite way to travel is to flow with the natural direction of the trip taking advice from locals and changing our mind on the spot.

This is the first time Bill and I have traveled abroad together as well so in addition to being a visual and cultural adventure, this will also be a relationship and marital adventure.  We anticipate as many arguments as epic triumphs and are looking forward to the way that our relationship will morph and grow over the course of this trip.

We’re keeping this blog alive so that our friends and family can keep tabs on our trip and “live vicariously” (quote from Phil) through our stories.

We have to thank many of our friends and families for contributing to the gift of our travel – for our wedding we asked for no gifts but that donations for our “epic trip” would be greatly appreciated.  Good people we know (and some we really don’t know) came through BIG.  We would probably still have gone on this trip without the donations, but likely our trip would have been shorter and without some of the needed amenities.  So thanks to you people who “live vicariously” and support our wandering souls.
